Lunchtime Recital – The Southport School (Australia)

Thu 12 September at 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm

Band of Brothers Choir

The Southport School is an Anglican Day and Boarding School for boys on The Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The school was founded in 1901 and has a rich heritage of choral singing.

The TSS Band of Brothers Choir is made up of 65 boys from Year 5 – 12 who not only have a love of singing but enjoy the many opportunities that instrumental music offers. This choir performs sacred and secular repertoire with a strong emphasis on Australian works that explore the culture of our country and the people that contributed to significant historical moments and events.

In 2010, the highly regarded Australian choral composer Mr Paul Jarman was commissioned to compose a “spiritual anthem” that reflects and contemplates the history and contributions of past TSS students who made the ultimate sacrifice in world conflicts. The work is also one that celebrates the hopes and aspirations that the young men of TSS provide for our future. The resulting composition “Band of Brothers” is a signature piece for the school and especially this choir.

This is a versatile choir of young and enthusiastic musicians who are looking forward to sharing their music with you!
