A German Requiem
Saturday 9th November 7.00pm
On this commemorative weekend the renowned Abbey choirs will give a moving performance of Brahms’ A German Requiem.
Written in 1865 and believed to be inspired by the death of his mother, the requiem includes the famous setting of Psalm 84 – How lovely is thy dwelling place. Performed by candlelight and including the piano duet and poignant readings – the evening will be one of remembrance and reflection with hope for peace and reconciliation.

Tuesday 19th November 7pm (First concert)
As we celebrate the 275th anniversary of possibly the greatest composer of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach, internationally acclaimed organist and Abbey Music Director, Huw Williams, will play the complete works of Bach over a series of sixteen concerts between November 2024 and September 2025.
Performed on the recently restored magnificent Bath Abbey Klais organ, this will be a unique opportunity to hear these famous works presented by one player in one city.
A Christmas Celebration!

A Family concert to celebrate the season. Join all the Abbey choirs including the young Melody Makers in their Christmas celebrations. Music, readings and audience carols….there will be something for everyone!
Baroque Christmas - Christmas Oratorio by J S Bach Saturday

Capture the joy and the excitement of the Nativity in words and music in the glorious setting of Bath Abbey. The critically acclaimed Girls’ choir and Abbey Lay Clerks are joined by the outstanding baroque instrumentalists, Rejouissance, to bring you this festive celebration of the Nativity. Composed originally for Christmas in 1734, this performance will include music from Cantatas number 1, 2, 5 and 6 with experienced soloists drawn from within the Abbey choir.
New Year Concert – A Ceremony of Carols 2025

Welcome the New Year with a magical evening of enchanting music sung by the acclaimed Bath Abbey Girls’ Choir accompanied by the beautiful sounds of the harp.
Music includes the ever popular ‘Ceremony of Carols’ by Benjamin Britten’s and the lovely medley of popular Christmas melodies Dancing Day arranged by Sir John Rutter’s . With Peace on earth by Errollyn Wallen and Britten’s popular A New Year Carol, this will be a wonderful evening as you brighten up the dark days of January in the stunning setting of Bath Abbey.
