Lunchtime Recital – Chipperfield Choral Society
Sat 8 June at 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm
Chipperfield Choral Society
Musical Director: Sheila Cornall
Accompanist: Rosemary Venner
Founded in 1947, we are a mixed voice choir of more than 70 members, based in Chipperfield, Hertfordshire. We perform three concerts per season, starting in December when the local village church in Chipperfield is packed out for our highly popular Christmas Concert. This is followed by a Spring Concert featuring a major work on a sacred theme in a larger local church, most recently an acclaimed performance of Haydn’s Creation (previous concerts include Messiah and Elijah) and then we return to Chipperfield for a mid-Summer Concert with a lighter mixed programme. We enjoy a wide and varied repertoire under the leadership of our Musical Director, Sheila Cornall.
There are no auditions for the choir as we believe that anyone with a love of music and singing should be able to join and we rehearse each week in the local Village Hall. We aim to achieve a high standard of singing in a fun and friendly atmosphere. We also encourage young talent through an Award Scheme funded by a legacy from a former choir member who appreciated singing with us so much that she wanted to give something back to the community.
We hope you enjoy our performance today which includes works by Fauré, Handel, Haydn, Mozart and Rutter.
